Picked up from the event base on the day of the event. We recommend checking into this area at least 45 minutes prior to your scheduled start time.
If you are completing the same course distance as your last outing (Short, Mid or Long) you need to simply turn up wearing that same race number and get ticked off at registration.
If you are changing courses (up or down) you need to be issued with a different colour race number at registration. |

7km
You will start from the beach picnic area and have the first 1km on gravel road. You will then pop into a pretty sandy trail called waterside. This trail follows the Waikato river (don’t forget to look around, it’s pretty nice) and becomes River run trail. At Montgomery Road you will head left and get a break from the sand trail. This is a bit of an uphill and at the top you hit your one and only drink station which marks 4.7km. You will head left down River road and after about 1km turn right into a trail going through gate 37 and turning left onto pioneer track. This track will head you straight back down to gate 38 and through to the picnic area to finish.
One located at the 4.7km mark.

This is a 2.5km trail called river cliffs and will take you back to the finish for a well earned Banger!

It wouldn’t be a Total Sport event unless you were following hanging white tape and red arrows on a white corflute backing. While course are well marked you will still need to keep your eyes open out there.
We need to stress that you need to stick to the trail you are on unless you are directed off by an arrow!
Key intersections will be clearly marked to make life easy for you!

We strongly recommend that all competitors come to these events sensibly prepared as some of these courses are very tough and weather conditions can be extremely changeable. We recommend running with a camelbak loaded with up to 2L of water and/or Balance along with Balance squeezy’s and other nutritional nibbles.
You can expect to be away from base for a decent period of time at these events! While event medics will be at each event & competitors may encounter on course marshals with first aid on them it also pays to be safety conscious and carry items like a basic first aid kit, cell phone, whistle and additional warm clothing.
